Ricardo Powell Got It Wrong❗️🏏
Despite predicting a victory for the West Indies team in the first T20 game against India, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India, Ricardo Powell got it wrong.
Powell was hopeful for a Windies victory with his former team mates, Kieron Pollard and Denesh Ramdin, joining the West Indies squad for the first T20 in Kolkata. By the ninth over, things started looking dismal for the Windies team, after Pollard was caught on 14 off 28 balls. By this time, the West Indies team was 47 for 4.
West Indians at the stadium and around the world, did have something to be proud of though, as Dwayne Bravo’s hit song, “Champion” could be heard from every corner of Eden Gardens. Not only were the Indians taking our wickets, but they were celebrating with Dwayne Bravo’s song, Champion! Shortly thereafter, the other Bravo brother, Darren went for 5 runs. At the end of 20 overs, the Windies were 109 for 8.
West Indies showed promise with outstanding bowling from Oshane Thomas, who took 2 wickets. That of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, in the first and second overs of the Indian innings. Carlos Braithwaite also had an excellent spell. The West Indian bowling attack was in ripping form, but their batsmen were about 20 runs short of restricting the Indians.
In the end, the Indian team secured a victory against their West Indian visitors at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
